Lump sum payments at the whim of opportunistic politicians are nothing more than patronising handouts. When are pensioners to be treated with respect and given a pension that truly reflects the cost of living? Rather than the theft by stealth under the guise of CPI adjustments which do not even come close to compensating for the rising cost of living. Why don't the pollies adjust the pension by the same percentage amount they raise their own incomes & allowances? Yeah, I know, silly suggestion, pollies prefer to treat pensioners like beggars and throw them scraps from time to time.
