From January 20, 2008 new content laws introduced by the Federal Government will force sites to verify the age of users before accessing content intended for mature audiences (MA15+ and R18+). The laws bring internet classification into line with Film and Book classification laws and completely prohibits X18+ and RC content from the internet.

This policy rings all sorts of alarm bells, as voiced in the article at http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,22990520-27197,00.html. Under the policy, the censorship will be in place over all connections, with some restricted content available if a user specifically opts out. This is very different from having a clean feed a family could opt into. This policy should definitely be amended.
