ausculture.com goes to television!

Many people will note that I’ve been conspicuous by my absence on ausculture.com lately. However, whilst I’ve taken a few steps back from writing for the site I’ve been busy working behind the scenes on something very exciting.

For the past four months I’ve been negotiating with TV executives at the Nine Network regarding a possible variety show derived from ausculture.com. At 9:15 this morning I received a phone call informing me that the show had been approved. At this stage I’m not able to divulge much information about the show but I wanted to let everyone know. Suffice to say that Jess and I are very excited about ausculture.com finally getting the television show it has long deserved.

The show won’t be airing until this time next year. In the immediate future however, ausculture.com will be moving to join the ninemsn group of websites so our URL will be changing to http://ausculture.ninemsn.com.au effective immediately - update your bookmarks.

Patrick that is bloody awesome news!!

Wow this is fucking amazing! I’m so proud of the both of you!!!111oneone11!!!

As you know, I have had recently had some success on a local Siberian network with my own variety program titled “Farpo Loils”… so if you need any help what-so-ever - I offer my services.

Especially if I get to play the role of the devilishly handsome, but not in any way shape or form talented, co-host… as patented by Nein’s Karl Stefanovic.

“Farpo Loils” was one of my favorite shows on my many trips to Siberia.

Why did the show get canned anyway?

It was sadly an unfortunate case of artistic difference. I wanted to move from the midday to morning timeslot and take it in a more upbeat, and flamboyant direction… possibly do a few musical numbers… sing at inappropriate moments despite my apparent lack of talent… maybe design the set with the colour pink in mind… ahhmm and well get a bit of work done so I could look fifty going on 21.

But you know Siberia. Its all gloom, gloom, snow and gloom. Forget the happiness, the pink, the singing. They wanted.. get this.. the colour scheme of beige and blue. BAH! Not to mention a variety of interaction with the less than attractive stage crew. And I was told to ignore my vanity and change the show’s title from “Farpo Loils: An Hour and a Half with the Fantastically Great Looking Adam” to… “Good Morning Siberia”. I mean… WTF?! What’s that all about?

Needless to say… after my refusal to comply, the Siberan Television Utilities Partnership In Deposition (STUPID) and I parted ways on less than amicable terms.

As I told the executives when I stormed out of the office and tripped in the foyeur… “YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE LAST OF ME YET YOU SCUM SUCKING SIBERIAN ASSHATS!”

And the phone has been ringing off the hook with offers ever since…

LOL.

I suppose I should reveal here that I’ve received an offer from News Ltd to write opinion pieces from Bolt Watch in the Herald Sun opposite Andrew Bolt’s regular column. Herald Sun deputy editor John Trevorrow was concerned that Mr Bolt’s columns had degenerated a bit of late, and felt that the paper needed some balance in the opinion pages to restore its reputation as the premier journal of political coverage in Melbourne.

I’m confused - isn’t the official port of call for Bolt-baiting the (seemingly un-updated since February) Thoughts From My Anus blog? thoughtsfrommyanus.blogspot.com ? Is Bolt Watch an affiliate of this?

Ah, if only it were true. The thought of the c-graders that would be forced onto an ausculture show by Nein execs is almost too funny to bear. Livinia Nixon anyone?

Whatevs. Tell it to my hand.

I’ve been with Channel 31 for-like-ever so I’m hardly gonna be impressed with that.

Sometimes I think the Blogosphere’s lucky that I even take time out of my glamourous TV/Radio-celebrity life to talk to you at all.
