Farewell, Chanel!
We knew it had to happen, and despite the hopes and dreams of all Chanel lovers, the girl from Bega has been booted from the house Idol. For a second there, I thought Courtney would get the least amount of votes, which would trigger off a tantrum of Daniel Belle proportions but alas, no.
I have to ask though, what WAS with that concession speech? I rather wish she’d come off a little more dignified\less insane, but hey - let’s move on. I do wonder though whether she and Hayley shared a pre-show spliff which could account for both Chanel’s rather odd ramblings and Hayley’s fit of giggles during the group performance of Earth, Wind & Fire. That’d be kinda cool.
Thankfully, Chanel’s post-insane ramblings final performance was far more kick arse than that of Sunday night. She redeemed herself in every way, working the crowd, singing like she was having fun - though seriously Marcia, please don’t try and fool us by doing some friendly hip hop dance moves when Chanel walks by. We all know you hated her. In your ideal world, your “critique” of her Sunday night performance of Blu Cantrell would have gone as follows.
Marcia: Chanel, do you know what that song is about?
Chanel: Puppies? Fondling Dicko and Mark? Baked beans?
Marcia: No, you stupid thick goddamn hippy piece of shit, it’s about anger! ANGER! I fucking hate you, you little slop-tart! WHY DO YOU HAUNT MY DREAMS SO?!
Unfortunately for Marcia, her post-performance discussion with Chanel went more like this…
Marcia: Chanel, do you know what that song is about?
Chanel: Anger.
Marcia: No, it’s about ang… no, it’s ummmm more than anger. It’s about lighter fluid on trousers. Yes. I HAVE NOTHING MORE TO SAY TO YOU!
Cheer up though, Chanel fans. She was never meant to be the Australian Idol. Do we REALLY want Chanel to release Angels Brought Me Here II? I think not. In fact, the entire Idol process was killing her, slowly driving her mad and turning her into a bit (more) of a space cadet. I have no doubt Dicko will sign her, and given room to do her own thang, Chanel will sparkle.
Meanwhile, completely unexpectedly - I find myself drawn to the idea of supporting Hayley. I’ll let you know how it evolves.

Yes, I think he did but from what I can gather, perhaps he’s “freelance” talent spotting? This year’s Idol is with Sony and I think he’s freelancing or something for them. Either way, I’m fairly sure he’ll do what he can to get her signed, bless him.

Of course… it was totally FATE that saw Chanel ejected this week… I mean come on! CHANEL NUMBER FIVE!
If only I had seen that earlier and not voted so much… DANGIT I really wanted to see her in the big band show. Lets all rejoice as Hayley butchers big band with her awful moves, and Anthony performs some vocal gymnastic version of a really great song. Cant wait rolls eyes
Speaking of big band… did anyone see the interesting Courtney “I am sooo up myself” moment? When Dicko was talking about how it would be a shame and cruel irony to see one of the people in the bottom two not performing in the big band show where they would truly shine… and Courtney was all like “Hey thanks Dicko man, Im glad you think id do well… big band is my thang!”… but of course Dicko… master of the slow reveal… let us all know he was talking about Chanel… once again making Courtney look like a dick-wad.
Hes angry at Mark for criticising his performance… when Mark was actually A. right… and B. kind of constructive for once (pointing out where the Court went wrong - rather then saying “Ging gang gooly gooly gooly gooly watcha”).

Goodbye Chanel , I’ll miss ya bad. I voted for you several times but I guess it wasn’t good enough.Since Courtney started growing an ego I wished even more so that you’d get to the end as there was(for me) no one else was left to vote for.For a while I couldnt understand Dicko’s obsession with you but it only took a little time for me to feel the same. You had a type of personality and taste that is rare ( I loved all your song choices).Marcia hated you because you have something she doesnt,a personality . Bye.

Well. Bollocks. I mean, I predicted it, the Chanel No. 5 joke reference wrote itself, and she seemed fine with it (cooloest unfounded rumour? She was approached all through the Arias by musicians with talent and execs with dollar signs in their eyes and so threw Sunday night’s performance intentionally) - I think she even had a bet on with Casey that she would throw a hissyfit if she was booted.
Doesn’t mean it doesn’t completely suck, though. Especially the week before Big Band night. Bastards with their bad musical timing.
Though I did notice Courtney puffing himself up while Dicko was complimenting one of the artists, saying how much they’d be missed, how unique they are - and then revealing it was Chanel. Apparently, Dicko thinks Courtney’s become an arrogant prick, though, so I bet he did that intentionally.
Anyway, until the album, farewell Chanel. You’ll be very, very missed.

I am amazed that some people seem to see the nonexistant ie that some feel Courtney has become arrogant. Um, what planet are these people on? WHERE do you see that? He is coming out of his shell more and being himself, but unlike Chanel, he was never egotistical or arrogant and simply is not.
I am totally amazed and bemused at where this is coming from, because if anyone is watching the show, it simply is not there.

I’ll tell you where I see his arrogance: When given criticism by Mark he was outraged. He huffed and puffed (not just because he is an overweight heffer) and rolled his eyes and shook his head and said “I’ll listen to the other judges”.
Everyone else just takes their criticism and nods and says “Oh well”. He reacted like the total tool he is.
When he was in the bottom two and Dicko was saying what a shame it would be if one of them went before the big band show and you could see Courtney smiling smug smiles and assuming Dicko was talking about him. He actually meant Chanel, not tubs, but Courtney’s ego is so out of control he thought the praise was for him.
He thinks he is a musical genius, when really he is just an overgrown pub singer, destined to play RSL’s and weddings until he has an inevitable heart attack from all that weight. (most of it in on his head)

If Chanel gets signed by a label it wont be by Dicko. Sony-BMG are only going to be signing the winner this time. There is a belief that the remaining finalists don’t have the star quality of the final 5 from last year. They are good singers, but their doesn’t appear to be too many “artisits” amoug them.
Chanel will have to look to the indies (Cosima style) to get a deal.

Totally agree. Marcia’s moves were very very contrived - you could cut the tension in the air with a knife.

Her ejection from the show could indeed be a blessing in disguise!
