Today I was invited to lunch by an old school chum, an offer I gratefully received since I am not much liked so affection and displays of friendship are hungrily gobbled up on the rare occasions they are offered. Over lunch, it emerged that I was asked to lunch because the first choice of lunch date for my friend was unable to make it. The first choice being Kelly Cavuoto of Australian Idol, Video Hits and more recently Gossip Column fame. Bless her. If Kelly came seventh (from memory) in Australian Idol, and I am the next best thing, does this make me the eighth best wannabe singer in Australia? And even more perplexing - in a parallel universe, am I Lauren Buckley?
Yesterday, around 6:43pm, I was faced with a huge decision. Do I loathe Oscar Scully, or find him endearing? After thirty seconds of fierce debate between the various facets of my personality, a choice was made - a choice I am now prepared to announce and stand by. Oscar Scully is brilliant. Note his chubby little head - it is excellent in itself. Note his expressive facial expressions - how many child actors under the age of two years old can portray such distaste for their own television family? He looks mildly bored when Lynn Scully talks, and on the verge of throwing up when forced to listen to Jack Scully’s disgusting hybrid Kiwi-Aussie accent. If I were born into the Scully family, I would no doubt feel the same way. And don’t get me started on that magnificent pout he does while being held by Steph - he seems so disgruntled, you know if he could talk, he’d be asking to bum a smoke off you cos he’s “had a shit of a day and this fucken family never stops whinging.”
Erm, I think that’s it. As you may have picked up, I don’t think all that much.
