The Election Selection - Single Release!

And what a piece of shite it is!

Ladies and gentlemen, between tonight’s Idol results and The O.C, I knocked out this terrible but incredibly touching torch-song about Mark Latham. Called Latham’s Lament, this could well become Mark Latham’s election anthem… or it could wither away in cyber space. Can you guess which is more likely?

Look out for - accidentally making that annoying spitting sound in the mic while singing “IMP-rove Medicare”! The high pitched finish! The power! The passion! The complete lack of Peter Garrett!

You can download Latham’s Lament by right clicking and saving here - (Link has been changed) Oh, and by the way - there’s a competition (due to my innate laziness) for whoever creates the bestest album cover for The Election Selection! Just send in to the usual address - jess@ausculture.com. What’s that? You wanna find out what my mangled lyrics are? Read below, dear kittens!

Latham’s Lament

Mark’s seen some tough times oh
He’s worked his way up from the slums
A man who ain’t afraid to show emotion
Or kick a cab driver up the bum
Some’ll try to tell you he’s just another
Foul mouthed lefty in a brand new suit
But don’t you know Mark really wants
To build a ladder of opportunity just for you

Oh Mark just wants to better the world
Read stories to each boy and girl
The Man loves The Loaf
So give him your vote
Won’t you please?
Oh Mark wants to make this country fair
Do stuff to improve Medicare
Howard’s a scrote
So give Mark your vote
Won’t you please?

He’s a battler, a hard man, a hater
Passion, it rules Mark’s life
It’s what led to all his lady friends
And really pissed off his ex wife
He’s not afraid to call it as he sees it
If you’re kissing some arse he’s gonna let you know
He even labelled the Liberal Party
A conga line of suck suck holes

Oh Mark just wants to better the world
Read stories to each boy and girl
The Man loves The Loaf
So give him your vote
Won’t you please?
Oh Mark wants to make this country fair
Do stuff to improve Medicare
Howard’s a scrote
So give Mark your vote
Won’t you please?

Jess, you sound a bit like Missy Higgins!! (Obviously a very good thing you know of course)

I liked the song! Is it going straight to number would you predict? I would.

Wonderful. I suspect the ALP party launch could have done with this little gem!
