Marcia Hines - A Biography

Marcia Hines - not a fuckwitMarcia Hines was born in Boston, Masachusetts in 1953. At age 16 she won a role in Harry M Miller’s Australian production of Hair and promptly arrived on Australian shores to work in the hit musical. What Marcia didn’t know was that she was also pregnant and whilst in Oz she gave birth to her daughter, singer Deni Hines. Deni is the ex-wife of Kirk Pengilly of INXS, just so you know.

Marcia became a huge hit with Aussie audiences, and at 19 she got the role of Mary Magdalene in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Cue many more years of Aussie success followed by a dash of reclusiveness. Thankfully she burst out of her Greta Garbo stage by performing at the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras in 1999 and eventually found her way back onto the Australian charts for the first time since 1982. Bravo, Marcia!

But Marcia truly hit the dizzying heights of success once she joined Australian Idol as a judge. There she cried, laughed and got occasionally stroppy (mostly at her fellow judges who sometimes behaved like utter cocksuckers) but all in all, had a great time.

Marcia also threw the phrase “That’s what I’m talkin’ BOUT!” around during the Idol series, which the show’s runner up Shannon Noll promptly stole and used for his album name. She is currently launching a law suit against Noll for such blatant copyright violation.

Marcia’s interests include crab racing, curling and watching 7th Heaven - but only when she’s not singing up a storm at her local RSL. Marcia is not considered a fuckwit, according to the latest polls.
