Go Susan! It’s Yer Birthday!

Finally, Susan Kennedy is getting the kudos she so richly deserves.

Jackie Woodburne - Susan’s “real life” name (unnecessary, we think - she should change her name by deed poll) - has been nominated for Switzerland’s Rose d’Or Festival Award for best female performance in a soap opera.

This is so so so excellent.

Jackie’s performance as Erinsborough’s favourite wife and mother (not to mention teacher!) has been simply superb over the past eleven years she’s been on the show. The time she found out Izzy was pregnant and unleashed a torrent of pent up emotion on Karl in the street (a highlight of the scene being her screaming through tears “You’ve RUINED my LIFE!”) had me reaching for a tissue. That’s true, you know. I am a sensitive soul who is easily moved by The Arts.

Let’s not forget the stupendous acting chops she would have required to make the sex with Joe Scully’s priest brother - who was cursed with a Shannon Noll-esque flavour saver!

This long overdue international award is just the beginning for Jackie, I can feel it in my bones. Next up? I don’t want to jinx anything, but if all goes according to plan… it rhymes with Macadmey Paward.
