More Miriam Stuff

Before I start - was I the only one under the impression that Miriam would be entering the house last Sunday night and not later this week? Perhaps I got it wrong - stranger things have happened.

There's A Lot Of Hype About MiriamIn any case, Miriam seems excited to be entering the Big Brother house, claiming to have her eye on a couple of the fellas - namely Kane and Ryan. Of course, she fancies Paul but her conscience won’t let her seduce a man with a wife. I’m sure Paul’s lovely wife is relieved! Miriam will be arriving on Friday night under the guise of being a salsa teacher named Maria.

Meanwhile, I was a bit confused this morning to see that Channel Ten are trying to get the best of both worlds. Originally advertising Miriam’s thrilling arrival by constantly bleating on about how the housemates were in lockdown when the show was advertised and have no idea who she is (“Hurrah, potential explosive Uncut material!” thought Kris Noble, no doubt), now that there’s some moral outrage over Miriam coming to the house the show seems to be backtracking, claiming

“We expect the housemates will be fully aware who she is or work her out within five minutes. We’re certainly not trying to deceive the housemates in any way about Miriam. But whatever happens, it will produce good television.”

Seems ausculture.com aren’t the only ones who raised eyebrows to this astonishing backflip in PR. The good people at Behind Big Brother also noted it in an article today.

Who are they trying to kid? Why else would you put Miriam in? Sparkling repartee and champagne comedy, I think not. It's all about the potential for brutal humiliation. That would be sweet.

You're telling me! There was more in the paper today, reiterating how they are being open and honest with the housemates, but she is going in under the name Maria.

If they ask her if she's Miriam, she'll be open and honest, but until then, they'll lie and have her say she's Maria. Openly and honestly.

Sheez, they need to make up their minds!
